ManpowerGroup surveyed a total of 1,000 employers across all states and territories in Australia to measure employer hiring intentions for the fourth quarter of 2022. All survey participants were asked: “How do you anticipate total employment at your location to change in the three months to the end of December 2022 as compared to the current quarter?”
Australia's Employment Outlook For October - December 2022
During the next quarter, employers in Australia again predicted a strong and growing hiring environment, expecting a Net Employment Outlook (NEO) of +38-percentage points. Job hunters in Australia can expect the Net Employment Outlook to increase by 10-percentage points since the last quarter.
Optimistic Hiring Market Expected
For All Regions
Hiring managers in all eight regions in Australia plan an
increase in staffing levels from October to December 2022.
Since last quarter, staffing expectations have grown in three
of eight regions, weakened in three regions, and seen no change in two regions. Since Q4 2021, hiring markets
have strengthened in all eight regions.
For All Industry Sectors
The NEO in all 11 sectors shows that organisations overall are planning to increase staffing levels this quarter.
Since last quarter, the hiring market has strengthened in 8 of the 11 sectors, remained unchanged in two, and decreased in one. From a YOY perspective, hiring environments have strengthened across all seven sectors since Q4 2021.
For All Organisation Sizes
Australian organisations across all four sizes anticipate an increase in staffing levels in the coming quarter.
Since Q3, hiring climates have strengthened in two, decreased in one, and seen no change in one. In comparison YOY to Q4 2021, hiring environments have strengthened in all four organisation sizes.
